A key problem in the application of SILS to gastric banding (and other gastric surgeries) is how to achieve adequate retraction of the liver, without resorting to the standard trocar placement. Huang et al., in order to retract left liver lobe for a SILS procedure of a gastric bypass, proposed a system consisting of a Jackson–Pratt drainage penetrated with a 2-0 Prolene and fixed with Kelly clamps at the skin [11]. As the author confirmed, mean time to carry out this procedure is 5 min.
