Description
Expectoration of foreign objects has been reported mainly in adults. Expectorated objects have included staples after lung volume reduction surgery (metalloptysis) [8], gallstones after laparoscopic cholecystectomy [12], masses of tumor tissue or polyps [11], and bullets [10] migrating through lung parenchyma and eventually expectorated. There is little information about expectoration of foreign materials in children. We report a case of migration and erosion of prosthetic Gore-Tex graft into the bronchial tree through a pneumonectomy stump in a teenager who had undergone serial palliative surgeries for congenital heart disease. The foreign body was spontaneously expectorated.
