Description
Every Surface developer unit includes the Surface SDK. However, you can also download and install the Microsoft Surface SDK 1.0 SP1 Workstation Edition on a workstation that meets the following software requirements and hardware recommendations:
Software Requirements
A 32-bit edition of one of the following Windows Vista operating systems:
Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Enterprise
Windows Vista Ultimate
Important: The Surface SDK Workstation Edition does not support Windows XP, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Starter, or 64-bit editions of Windows Vista. You can install the Surface SDK Workstation Edition on a computer that runs Windows 7, but the Surface team does not support this scenario. Check the Surface community forums for information that other customers have provided about Windows 7 and Surface SDK Workstation Edition.
Note: The Surface SDK Workstation Edition requires certain Microsoft Windows Media Player components. If you use an NSKU or KNSKU version of the Windows Vista operating system, make sure that you have Windows Media Player components installed before you install Surface SDK Workstation Edition.
