شرکت FunctionBay یکی از پیشگامان ساخت نرم افزار های مهندسی به کمک کامپیوتر است که یکی از نرم افزار های قوی این شرکت نرم افزار FunctionBay RecurDyn می باشد. این نرم افزار از یک سیستم محاسبه بسیار قوی بر پایه فرمول بازگشتی بهره می برد و ترکیبی از متد دینامیک multibody و روش المان محدود غیر خطی است. همچنین از سایر تکنولوژی های مهندسی به کمک کامپیوتر مانند مدل سازی کنترل سیستم و بهینه سازی غیر خطی در سطح سیستم نیز پشتیبانی می کند که این نرم افزار را در بسیاری از صنایع از جمله خودرو سازی، کشتی سازی، راه آهن، رباتیک، صنایع سنگین، تجهیزات نظامی، مکانیکی و دستگاه های الکترونیکی کاربردی نموده است. امکاناتی شامل طراحی CoLink، تجزیه و تحلیل خستگی، ابزار های جانبی برنامه، سفارشی سازی برنامه توسط کاربر، ابزار بهینه سازی طراحی برای ایجاد نوآوری در محصول، صرفه جویی در زمان، کاهش هزینه های مرتبط با طراحی و شبیه سازی محصولات تولیدی کمک شایانی می کند.
با استفاده از این نرم افزار کاربر می تواند مدل را با تمامی عناصر اساسی مانند بدنه، اهرم ها و نیروها، مفاصل و نقاط تماس طراحی کند و فایل های CAD با فرمت Parasolid ،STEP ،IGES ،ACIS و قالب CATIA را نیز وارد و ویرایش کند و به ایجاد مدل تجهیزات، تعریف عناصر تجهیزات، نمایش بصورت انیمیشن و یا علامت گذاری طرح بپردازد. همچنین کاربر می تواند شرایط مختلف را برای تست و یافتن نقص محصول ایجاد کند و سپس به بر طرف کردن این نواقص بپردازد. با استفاده از ابزار هایی که در نرم افزار تعبیه شده است هر کاربر می تواند نرم افزار را مطابق با نیاز خودش شخصی سازی کند. قابلیت تجزیه و تحلیل MFBD که ترکیبی از روش MBD با متد اجزا محدود است برای شبیه سازی مجموعه های در حال حرکت و انعطاف پذیر می باشد و کاربر می تواند تنش دینامیکی دقیق و تجزیه و تحلیل سطوح سیستم را بر اساس معیار هایی مانند رنگ آمیزی سطوح مختلف و نیروهای اینرسی متغیر با زمان مشخص کند.

The RecurDyn technology has superior calculation efficiency because it is based on a recursive formulation. The core is Multi-Flexible Body Dynamics (MFBD) that combines a multibody dynamics solver and a nonlinear finite element method solver at the integrator level.
